How to treat your feet

Feet are often our most neglected body part yet we expect them to carry us around all day long whilst supporting up to twice our bodyweight.
A pedicure is the perfect way to treat your feet but spending just a few minutes every day on foot care will help keep them in tip top shape.
Treat your feet well by following our 8 foot care tips:
1. Wash your feet daily with soap and warm water, making sure to get in between your toes. Dry your feet properly after washing especially between your toes to avoid unpleasant fungal infections such as athlete's foot.
2. Moisturise your feet after washing with a body lotion or foot cream. For super soft feet moisturise them just before bed and slip on a pair of socks to wear overnight.
3. Wear appropriate footwear. Your shoes shouldn’t be painful to wear. Tight shoes can distort your toe shape and cause painful foot growths. If you wear high heels, choose heels that are wide, stable and no higher than two inches.
4. Alternate shoes regularly to give them chance to air out and avoid triggering foot odour or infections. Alternate heel heights regularly to protect your Achilles tendon from shortening.
5. Regularly change your socks or tights to keep your feet smelling fresh.
6. Keep feet cool in the summer with sandals and footwear that breathes. Keep them warm in the winter with waterproof boots and socks.
7. Wear flip flops or shower shoes when you shower in changing rooms and other public places to protect your feet from bacteria and fungus.
8. Trim your toenails regularly. Trim them straight across, rather than trimming the edges into a curve to prevent ingrown toenails. Also avoid trimming them too short.
For the ultimate foot treat, try a pedicure. A pedicure is a therapeutic treatment for your feet that removes dead skin, softens hard skin and shapes and treats your toenails. It’s a relaxing experience which will leave your feet feeling smooth, soft, clean, and looking great.
